Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we hear most.

The basics

What is autobids?

A peer-to-peer marketplace where private owners sell used cars to buyers directly. We verify listings, connect the two sides and help with paperwork. We don't own or sell the cars.

Where does it work?

Delhi NCR only for now.

Do I need an account?

You can browse without one. To make an offer, buy or sell you need an autobids ID, which starts with your email.

Offers

How long does an offer last?

An offer stays open for 48 hours. The seller can accept the highest offer, decline it, or hold their asking price. The listing itself stays open until the car is sold.

What's the difference between an offer and Buy now?

An offer is a price you propose below the asking price. Buy now pays the asking price and closes the listing.

Can I withdraw an offer?

Yes, until the seller accepts it. Once accepted, you're asked to pay the fee, and the sale goes ahead to inspection.

What if two buyers want the same car?

The seller picks. If a buyer pays the asking price with Buy now, that buyer gets it.

Fees

Is it free to sell?

Yes. No listing fee and no commission from sellers. Photos are free to take yourself, and our team will shoot your car for free during launch. Optional services like inspection are paid.

What does the buyer pay?

A 3% fee, which is already included in every price on the site. It's paid when a price is agreed, before the seller's details are shared.

Is the fee refundable?

Yes. If the car isn't sold after the buyer's personal inspection, the fee is refunded. If it is sold, autobids keeps it.

Does the seller really get the full price?

Yes. The seller receives the price they set, in full, directly from the buyer.

Buying

How do I know a car is genuine?

Every listing is verified against the seller's documents. Check the Verified by autobids box for ticks on RC, service history and inspection. Always inspect the car yourself before paying the seller.

Who do I pay for the car?

You pay the seller directly, after the inspection. Use a bank transfer or banker's cheque.

Do I have to verify my identity?

Yes, once, before you buy. Upload a photo ID from your dashboard.

Can I get a loan?

You can arrange one with your own lender. See the financing page for how it works on private-seller cars.

Selling

What documents do I need?

Your RC and a photo ID matching it are required. Insurance and service records are optional but earn verification ticks.

Who checks my photos?

The autobids team checks every photo and video, usually within a day. If a shot needs redoing we email you and show exactly which one. We blur your number plate for you.

Can you take the photos for me?

Yes. During launch an autobids team member will come to you anywhere in Delhi NCR and shoot your car for free. Choose "We'll shoot it for you" when you list.

How is the price suggested?

Our AI looks at similar cars and suggests a range. You always choose your own price.

Can I sell a car with a loan?

Yes, but the loan must be closed and you need Form 35 and a bank NOC before the transfer completes.

Can I sell a modified, vintage or exotic car?

Yes. Modified cars list their modifications, and these cars have their own pages.

After the sale

Who handles the RC transfer?

You can do it yourself at the RTO or use our optional transfer service.

Can you deliver the car?

Yes, within Delhi NCR, as an optional service.
