Privacy Notice
Version 2026-10-21.
This notice explains what personal information [Company name] ("autobids") collects on autobids.in, why, who sees it, and your choices. It is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. [Lawyer: confirm.]
What we collect
- Account: your email address, your name, and whether you want to buy, sell or both. A mobile number is optional and is never used to sign in.
- Your listing: the car's details and price; photos and videos; the chassis and registration number.
- Photo details: when and with what device a photo was taken. If you allow it, the approximate place a photo was taken. Location is optional and you can say no.
- Documents: your RC, photo ID and insurance policy, and service records if you give them.
- Activity: offers, messages in chats, reports, notification settings, and when you last used the site.
- Technical: basic information needed to run and protect the service, such as your browser type and security logs.
Why we use it
- To run the marketplace: show your listing, connect buyers and sellers, and send you notices about offers and messages.
- To check listings: our team compares your documents and photos with the details in the listing.
- To keep people safe: reviewing reports, preventing fraud and misuse.
- To follow the law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who sees what
- Buyers see your listing: the car's details, price and approved photos and videos with number plates blurred and location data removed. They do not see your name, email or documents.
- Chats are anonymous. The other person sees a car name and the words "Seller" or "Buyer", not your name. Phone numbers, emails and links are hidden until the seller accepts an offer.
- Our team can read chats to keep people safe and to look into complaints.
- Documents are seen only by our review team.
- Service providers help us run autobids and see only what they need: Supabase (database and sign-in, hosted in India, Mumbai), Cloudflare (file storage), Resend (sending email), [hosting provider], and [payment provider] when payments start. If you use the automatic write-up, the details of your car (not your name or documents) are sent to an AI service to draft the text. Some providers process data outside India. [Lawyer: confirm cross-border wording.]
Your documents
We use your RC, ID and insurance documents only to check the details in your listing.
- They are never shown to buyers.
- They are deleted from our systems within 7 days of the check, except where the law requires us to keep them.
- We keep only a record that the check was done and its result.
Your photos
We keep your original photos and videos on our own secure computer so we can check them. The public copies on the site have number plates blurred and location data removed.
How long we keep things
- Account, listings, photos, chats: while your account is open. When you delete your account we delete them.
- Documents: as described above.
- Payment and tax records: kept, without your name, for as long as the law requires.
- Sold prices: kept without any personal information, to help estimate prices.
- Security logs: for a short, rolling period.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can delete your account yourself from your dashboard: it removes your account, listings, photos, offers and messages. We cannot delete a sale or mechanic visit that is in progress until it is finished. You can also nominate someone to exercise your rights, and complain to the Data Protection Board of India. To ask us anything, contact the Grievance Officer.
Children
autobids is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
We protect your information with sign-in by emailed code, access rules in our database, private storage for your documents and originals, and limits on who in our team can see what. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will tell you and ask you to accept the new version.
